Unraveling Canada's Appeal
The survey attributes Canada's appeal to Express Entry, the management system for Canada’s flagship federal immigration programs. Designed to facilitate the immigration of skilled workers, Express Entry extends invitations to apply for permanent residency to top-ranking eligible candidates.
Canada's economic immigration programs assess candidates based on objective criteria such as work experience, education, and language skills. A comparably high employment rate among immigrants also adds to Canada's allure for job seekers. According to Statistics Canada, the employment rates among working-age immigrants in 2023 were as follows:
- Immigrants who landed 5 or fewer years earlier: 77.8%
- Immigrants who landed between 5 to 10 years earlier: 81.9%
- Immigrants who landed over 10 years earlier: 84.5%
Other factors contributing to Canada's appeal include its robust economy, publicly-funded healthcare system, and diverse culture. In the updated U.S. News country rankings for 2024, Canada ranked as the 4th best country in the world, with an overall indexed score of 94.1.
The country's high performance in factors like quality of life, entrepreneurship, social purpose, and agility played a key role in securing this prestigious position.
In conclusion, it's no surprise that Canada is leading the way as a top destination for job seekers worldwide. The country's comprehensive immigration programs, high employment rates, and excellent quality of life make it an appealing choice for those seeking new opportunities abroad.
