Canada's Immigration Plan: Express Entry Draw Invites 733 Candidates

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released details on the latest Express Entry draw. In this Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) aligned draw, 733 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued to eligible candidates. To qualify for this draw, candidates needed to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 812.
Express Entry Assessment
The previous draw took place on October 23, where 1,800 candidates were invited in a category-based selection draw for trade occupations. Notably, this was the first non-French speaking category-based draw since July of the previous year.
Today’s draw, the first in November, comes on the heels of the release of Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2025. The ambitious plan sees IRCC aiming to welcome 124,680 Express Entry candidates next year.
Focus on Temporary Residents and Economic Priorities
Those who received an ITA today will be considered in targets for next year, either through the newly introduced In-Canada Focus targets for Express Entry candidates, or the Federal Economic Priorities category.
The In-Canada focus target aims for 82,980 permanent resident admissions, largely impacting temporary residents already living in Canada. This accounts for approximately 40% of Canada’s overall economic immigration admissions in 2025.
Many of these candidates will be from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
Meanwhile, the Federal Economic Priorities target of 41,700 permanent resident admissions will primarily select candidates from all Express Entry-managed programs. These candidates are considered by the IRCC as best suited to fill urgent gaps in healthcare and trade occupations or assist the department in meeting its demographic target for French language proficiency among newcomers outside of Quebec.

The Canadian government's active role in facilitating immigration is evident in its current policies and initiatives. With the new Immigration Levels Plan setting the stage for 2025, Canada continues to affirm its commitment to welcoming new residents and enhancing its economic and social fabric. The impact of these policies, however, will only be clear with time. As always, the balance between meeting economic needs and ensuring successful integration of newcomers will remain a crucial consideration.
