Research indicates a significant positive impact for those who utilize settlement services. Yet, approximately one-third of immigrants to Canada remain unaware of these resources. Eligible individuals include permanent residents, protected persons, and certain temporary residents.
Financial backing for these services is provided by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, alongside provincial and municipal contributions. Unique programs may be available for those settling in Quebec or arriving as refugees, reflecting regional and situational needs.
The scope of these services is determined by specific eligibility criteria and the nature of the funding. Overall, settlement services are designed to assist newcomers with everyday necessities, language proficiency, employment opportunities, and integration into the community.
