Canada Announces New Immigration Pathway for Families of PS752 Victims

October 28, 2024—Ottawa—In a continued show of solidarity with those impacted by the devastating downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 (PS752), Canada has unveiled a new initiative aimed at reuniting victims' families.

The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced today a new pathway to permanent residency specifically designed for the families of those who perished in the PS752 tragedy. This opportunity will be available from October 28, 2024, to October 27, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

The new pathway is open to family members of victims who were:

  • Canadian Citizens,
  • Permanent Residents, or
  • Individuals approved to work or study in Canada at the time of the tragedy.

This initiative extends eligibility to those family members identified by the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims who were previously unable to apply for permanent residency under two earlier public policies.

Application Process

Detailed information on how to apply can be found on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. This resource provides comprehensive guidance to assist eligible families in navigating the application process.

Commitment to Support and Justice

This new pathway is part of Canada's ongoing commitment to support families closely connected to the country. It reflects a broader dedication to transparency, justice, and accountability for the victims of this tragedy and their loved ones.

In extending this opportunity, Canada reaffirms its pledge to offer solace and support to those left bereaved by the PS752 tragedy. This initiative not only underscores the nation's humanitarian values but also strengthens the bonds between Canada and those seeking a new chapter within its borders.

With these measures, Canada continues to demonstrate its unwavering resolve to act with compassion and justice, ensuring that the legacy of PS752's victims is honored through meaningful action.
