Originally limited to highly skilled French-speaking temporary foreign workers, the program's expansion now opens more opportunities for French-speaking immigrants to acquire Canadian work experience. This experience could be pivotal in qualifying them for permanent residence.

Updated Language Proficiency Criteria

The expansion comes with updated French language proficiency requirements for foreign nationals applying for a work permit under the program. Applicants must demonstrate moderate oral comprehension and expression skills, meeting a level 5 proficiency.
