Canada Strengthens Commitment to Francophone Immigration
Toronto, Ontario – November 8, 2023 – In a strategic move to bolster the development and prosperity of Francophone communities outside Quebec, the Canadian government is intensifying efforts to attract more Francophone immigrants. Government Announces Funding for Francophone Immigration Research
The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced an allocation of nearly $85,000 to the Université de l’Ontario français. This funding is earmarked to support the establishment of the Observatoire en immigration francophone au Canada. Minister Miller revealed this development at the observatory's inauguration ceremony held at the Centre francophone du Grand Toronto.
Objectives of the Observatoire en immigration francophone
The financial assistance will facilitate the formation of an oversight committee, comprising both university and community representatives. This body will play a crucial role in:
